One of the least significant zodiac constellations. The constellation was considered by Greeks as part of the neighboring Scorpius constellation, with Zubenalgubi (Sigma) was formally included in that constellation as
gamma Scorpii. The old name for Libra was Chelae Scorpionis, the Scorpian's Claws. The unusual names (Zuben...) indicate those claws. The Romans considered the Libra as separate group and according to myth,
it is the balance scale held by Astraeia, goddess of Justice.
