Chemical Symbols
For each element there is a chemical symbol. This identifies the element uniquely and allows us to communicate with
each other in a shorthand, abbreviated way. Once you can understand the symbols you will be able to crack the code!
You will notice that the elements in the Periodic Table are
written in their chemical symbols.
The chemical symbol is always written with a capital letter.
Sometimes a second small letter is used. Quite a number elements associated with symbols derived from their greek or latin name.
