Reactions with oxygen
Metal reactions
Metals become less reactive when moving down the reactivity series. When metals react with oxygen the metal oxides are formed.
Metal oxides are basic which means that they form an alkaline solution when dissolved in water, turning litmus to blue color.

Non metal reactions
When non-metals react with oxygen the non-metallic oxide is formed.
Non-metallic oxides are acidic. They form acidic solution when
